The Practice Times are normally based on a Karateka training at least two hours - two or three times a week (minimum 4hrs/week) The periods shown above is the time that must elapse between one grade and the next grade.

As some Senbukan 先武館 Karate, members, especially the junior students currently only train within the club once a week, “Half” belts can be awarded to signify their advancement between Kyu grades.

This will take recognition of the student’s advancement accounting for the reduced training periods. Therefore the ‘time’ represented above will normally be minimum training times to achieve progression through each ‘half’ belt. All students will be examined on their own ability, effort and their application of the techniques learnt.

It is important to note that the belts are not awarded simply for attendance time but rather the demonstration of knowledge and skill during the examination.

The intention is to operate a transparent, fair and open system but maintain very high club standards.

Senbukan 先武館 Karate was formed, in part, taking account of the highly dynamic, mobile and diverse multi cultural community that reside within Dubai.
We therefore, expect to encounter a range of styles previously studied by students from abroad as they arrive and settle here, with the associated different grading and coloured belt systems that are in place around the world.
It is our firm belief that we are not here to remove the belts awarded by other clubs, so students arriving will continue to wear their respective coloured belt should they wish to do so.

It is our intention that students continue to develop their sense of being, character, confidence, ability and that when they return ‘home’ or move onward to other worldwide destinations, they can do so confident in what they have learned.
